Immediate productivity with OData

I was able to get productive building OData services right away. Did not finish the second half yet about consuming them. That's not my part of the job.

Excellent Content , Explanation and a true Developers' Companion

For quite sometime, SAP Gateway has been under the limelight as an emerging technology for its contribution in SAP Fiori and SAP S/4HANA stack. The adoption rate of this technology among the customers and teams/products internal to SAP is very high. Using this technology one can communicate with SAP very easily via OData services. The ease of development makes it very popular among the developers.
There are documents available in SCN and also course offering from SAP. However the need of a good book is undeniable.
This book is a comprehensive guide to SAP Gateway. The content is very well organized in four parts with equally relevant chapters under them. The first part focuses on the concepts behind OData and SAP Gateway, the architecture and the ecosystem around this technology. The second part enables a developer to build a live service. In the process the developer gets acquainted with the available features of SAP Gateway. The third part talks about the consumption of OData services. I found this part very interesting. This section actually helps the classical developers to think about new possibilities. The explanations around social media, UI5, Enterprise applications provide food for thought. The fourth part talks about administration, security which is often underestimated among the developer community.
I personally found the topics to be very well thought and organized. The explanations are concise, lucid and easy to understand. I think this book is equally relevant for novice and for expert developers. After finishing this book one would be able to develop productive services for applications based on REST principles.
I found the book to be a perfect developer's companion and recommend this as a must have for all.
