The ET15 is a receptacle tester used to detect faulting wiring in 3 wire receptacles for 5 wiring faults. The ET15 utilizes LED lights to indicate good or bad connections. A Very Complete Electrical Three-Pack

This set includes three useful devices, a multimeter, a non-contact voltage detector, and a receptacle tester.

The receptacle tester is useful for finding non-grounded outlets which are all too common. Those are the ones where someone has replaced an existing two prong non-grounded outlet with one that looks grounded (having three prongs available). But, unknown to a subsequent user, only has the powered ones actually wired. Without the third ground prong wired, there is little or no protection when a power surge occurs. This can bring a premature end to an electronic device being powered at the outlet. We lost a PVR to this hidden problem a couple of years ago. This tester can alert you to such bad wiring and help you to avoid loses likes ours.

The non-contact voltage detector makes detection of AC voltage simple using LEDs for indicators. At the press of a switch, it will add sound indication too. Checking AC voltage is always a little precarious when a direct connection is necessary. While care is always needed where AC power is present, a non-contact device makes it easier to do and more foolproof.

My experience with the mulit-meter has shown it as accurate and easy to use. Since the meter is manual-ranging, the approximate voltage must be dialed in before it will return results. But, having a battery positions for both 1-1/2 and 9 volt batteries gives it some unique settings even most auto-ranging meters lack.

I am impressed with the many features this three-set packs for such a reasonable price. I am very happy with this purchase and believe others will be too.

A Very Good Value Offering

I certainly did not need another VOM Digital Multimeter, or Tattle Tale indicator, or Circuit tester - I already have analog, and digital units, from days of old to new types. But like so many others, I simply could not pass up a great deal that provided all this equipment for such a low cost. After all I could use another Tattler for the tool kit (right)? Point herein, this is a descent Multimeter (not junk), the Tattler works every time, and the Circuit Tester is something every contractor or household tool box should have at least 1 or 2 of (right, help me out here)? So grab this value packaged deal, you wont be disappointed, and the quality is surprising good.

Good, cheap meter, seems accurate the few times I've used it. I keep it in my quick fix tool bag. This is one of 4 meters that I have. Don't know why I have so many, but I use them all.

Good source of topical information, not so good as an introduction

Some others reviews have claimed this book is good for an introduction to modern opengl. Although it could be used for a such a purpose, I wouldn't recommend using it that way. The introduction portion is entirely in the first chapter and is awkwardly organized with too much emphasis on largely redundant shader examples with not enough emphasis on the opengl code required to use the shaders. Furthermore, the writing is super dry and suffers from some pacing issues (some minor things are explained in a drawn out matter while some more advanced items are glossed over).

That being said, there is a lot of useful information in this book and a lot of interesting topics are covered. This would make an excellent second book in your collection. Get your introduction from another book like "Anton's OpenGL 4 Tutorials", and use this book in the manner the title suggests - a cookbook with recipes for handling various topics.

Samples run and look great!

Awesome book. The author is very helpful in fixing source code problems on GitHub as well. Samples are compact, organized, and intuitive to understand if you have experience with C++ and platform-independent windowing systems such as SFML, SDL, or in this case GLFW.

A clean introduction to Modern OpenGL

I taught a beginners (undergrad) course on OpenGL Shading and this book was instrumental in making the course possible. It has very little fluff, is written in a very clean, well structured manner, and is easy to approach. The assumption is that people already know a good bit of programming and have some familiarity with Graphics APIs. I would say this is THE book to read for someone who is already familiar with legacy OpenGL and wants to upgrade to shader programming and new APIs.

Excerpt from The History of Materialism and Criticism of Its Present Importance, Vol. 1 of 3

The "History of Materialism" was hailed, upon its original publication in Germany, as a work likely to excite considerable interest. In this country, Professor Huxley suggested, in the "Lay Sermons, Lectures, and Addresses" (published in 1870), that a translation of the book would be "a great service to philosophy in England." Soon afterwards there was published a second - thoroughly re-modelled and re-written - edition of the work. And then, in the autumn of 1874, attention was again specially directed to it by Professor Tyndall's acknowledgment of his indebtedness "to the spirit and to the letter" of the work in his memorable address as President of the British Association at Belfast.

It was shortly after this that, seeing with regret that the book had so long awaited a translator, I ventured to apply to the author for his authority to undertake the task. The causes that have delayed its completion, since they are personal to myself, it would be an impertinence to trouble the reader with. The only one that is not so, is to be deplored on other grounds besides that of mere delay. The lamented death of the author, in November 1875, deprived me of the hoped-for opportunity of submitting my rendering to his friendly criticism.

And despite the chronic situation that he found himself in, with drips attached to his ravaged body as he battled jaundice and tuberculosis, he was still trying his hardest to shovel as much cocaine as possible up that famous hooter of his!
The result of a spiralling drug habit which, at its peak, saw him take an ounce of coke a day for months was his bewildered doctor telling him that he would die within two weeks if he didn’t stop pronto.
But that wasn’t going to deter Brandon.
He pleaded with friends to bring coke to the hospital and they duly, if reluctantly, obliged. If he was on his way out, then he was going out on a high, at least that was the twisted and warped way he looked at it. However, by then he had to take so much of the stuff for it to actually register that it almost defeated the object.
Clubland had snorted him up one nostril and blown him out of the other. A haunting shadow of the livewire DJ who leapt on to the house music scene in the late ’80s, Brandon somehow managed to drag himself out of the mire and lived to tell the tale.
With his astronomical coke habit - and the complex network of dealers who fuelled it - now fortunately in the past, he is able to look back (through somewhat hazy spectacles) on a 25-year-career which spans the highest highs and lowest lows.
His own success and turmoil has weaved in and out of the so-called acid house generation and seen Blocko, like no other DJ, crossover mischievously into mainstream celebrity too.
Brandon’s pioneering residency with Alex P on the Space terrace in the early ’90s took club life in Ibiza and throughout the world to a whole new dimension.
Meanwhile, away from the world of underground dance music, he famously stormed the Brits stage, scrapping with Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood, ending up splashed across the front of the tabloids the next day, with Richard and Judy appealing for his whereabouts later that night!
The Life & Lines Of Brandon Block looks back at the career of a DJ who was there from the very start of the modern-day club movement, who had grafted as a pub and mobile DJ during the mid-’80s, a few years later finding himself in a prime position when, like many, he discovered the drug ecstasy and house music quickly followed a love of disco, soul, jazz funk and hip-hop.
This biography charts how a groundbreaking decade or two of clubbing became a national and global phenomenon and how Brandon was intrinsically linked to it all, headlining an era that changed the lives of millions, but also becoming a symbol for its excess.

A Telling Insight

An almost perfect look at the legendary caner that is Brandon Block. Details are sketchy during the cocaine years but anyone who saw him then would know why. Very insightful on the subject of of his battle with addiction. Puzzlingly, there is little input from former business partner and DJ Alex P and no indication of why.

Very enjoyable.
