Great writing and a great story

Not affiliated with the author and I do have a lot of other reviews so this is not a plug. This book is about Chris a unique man with a one of a kind gift to exorcise demons, in this universe demons can inhabit people and push out their souls. Chris eventually comes into contact with other supernatural species "angels, weres, vampires, demons, native spirits and a whole host of others" and meets his soul mate as well as grows in power and perspective. If you are wondering about the title and like me am not a fan of christian fiction I will say this book does have the Christian mythos with angels and demons but also includes all the other religions as well in a non monotheistic way. Basically you will not feel this is a preachy book as that makes up only one dimension of the story and is not the whole story one of my favorite characters is the bear who is a native spirit.

Good
1: The writing is mature with few errors I found that it flowed well and that the word usage was both easy to follow and engaging.
2: The dialogue felt organic and real I could see people saying those things in real life and it made for good character development.
3: The characters themselves are well developed and 3 dimensional they all have separate wants and needs they all have their own take on the world and whats in it. I felt the personality of the characters and that added a lot to the story as you feel them as people.
4: The world was well detailed and was fleshed out as the story progressed. This means no big info dumps instead you are introduced to the world in a natural organic way this helps you make sense of it as the character does and again makes the immersion into the world effortless.
5: One of the big strong points of not only this book but its sequels "reviews of those to come" is its lack of genre hooks. This means no love triangles, kidnaps, dark and brooding vampire lovers, know it all sage advisers and amoral villains. The books thank all that is holy relies on original ideas at least as original as you can get in a genre like this.
6: The story flows by itself with a lack of the plot characters you know the type they had to do x for y to happen. Those idiotic moments where the main character has to be stupid for the plot to continue I hate those.

Bad
1: The world is our world but I would of liked a little more description in the scenes but this is a minor quibble just something to put down so that you don't think this is an unbiased review

Overview
This is an awesome book that is very enjoyable it has engaging characters a world that is unique and interesting. I felt it was a breath of fresh air into the genre without losing the things I love about the genre.I would strongly recommend this book if you like the genre as I believe you will enjoy this book very much. Bottom line at the price I don't see how you could not give this a chance, you will not be disappointed.

I know there are excellent reviews out there

I know there are excellent reviews out there, but they must be reading another book. This book has a storyline that is understandable, but predictable. And not in a fun way. This book totally ruined the immersion factor for me. I missed the beginning of the book because the forward doesnt have an obvious end. Chapter one is exactly on the next line after the forward, and this persists throughout the entire book. Conversations between characters are not obviously separate from each other. Deciphering the words in a book should not be a readers job, but instead an editors job - even a proofreader. This book needed an editor or proofreader badly. I will not read further in the series. I know that the new method of self-publishing is cool and enticing, but it is giving the public very badly edited books.

I enjoyed a lot the first 3 books - a steady ...

I was looking for something similar to Jim Butcher's "Dresden Files" series and ended up reading the first 4 books of this series => I will post this same review for all 4 of them.

I enjoyed a lot the first 3 books - a steady pace, some romance but never overdoing it, a lot of action and some interesting concepts & names & informations => 5 stars and I think I might read them again in the future.
For my taste they're not as detailed and funny and creative as Jim Butcher's series, but still, they were quite light (although I get crazy when the 2 main characters are separated) and enjoyable.

I quite liked the first half of the 4th book (mainly when the main chars were doing their job as "rovers" in the wilderness), but then things started going downhill: some of the vampires were quite stupid, the main character still had his personality problems, there were a lot of open questions and the book itself was open-ended.

Therefore, 5 stars for the first 3 books (you could read only those ones and then stop), but only 3 stars to the fourth mostly because of the bad 2nd half and the bad & open-ended ending.
For the time being I'm taking a break from these series.

Handsome but inconclusive volume

Le Corbusier excelled in three fields: architecture, painting, and writing. This book seeks to establish his rank in a fourth field: photography. In my view it does not succeed. Although Corbu took many photographs in the course of his life, most of them seem to be out of focus, overexposed or underexposed. He used some rather grainy photos by others in his books, but they make his points less effectively than his fine line drawings. The second part of the book is an anthology of photographs by others, which does not establish much. In truth there is no substitute for seeing the buildings themselves, as the architect would have wanted. The book is handsomely produced by the publisher, though.

Most useful photographic technique guide I have ever bought!

As a relatively experienced professional photographer, I like to think I can turn my hand to any job that presents itself to me. In that sense, I like a challenge. But when I was asked if I would do Boudoir, my initial response was 'sure, I can do that', shortly followed by 'oh heck, what have I got myself in to?'! Thanks to Kay's straightforward book, I was able to pull off some great photos that my client really liked. If you are looking to get started in this bourgeoning field, you can't go wrong with her guide.

This book is a well-organized compendium of recipes for success, applicable to beginners through advanced photographers. What makes Kay's approach so accessible is her careful use of un-complicated lighting setups, together with inspired posing and prop suggestions. It's easy to get overwhelmed with elaborate equipment demands in some tutorials, but Kay keeps it really simple (only 4 different light source combinations, plus window light, are used throughout the entire book), emphasizing instead how much you can do with relatively few light sources and modifiers.

During the course of our first session, I found myself turning to this book over and over again, not only to remind ourselves of what we had planned for the day, but also to bounce ideas off the client by showing the amazing sample images in the book as a source of inspiration for both of us. Being as the formulas were relatively simple, I soon was able to produce results as flattering as the sample images, and soon had the client's confidence.

Boudoir photography turned out to be one of the most challenging assignments I had encountered, but with the help of Kay Eskridge's book, I was able to both overcome my anxiety, and produce some photographs that both my client and I can be proud of!

Really nice photography and it's explained very simply and very precisely - well worth getting if you're learning.

The photos are very good, the layout is very user friendly, and the explanations of how the photos were done are well explained. This is a great little book for the hobbyist or photo buffs wanting to learn more - certainly not an end-all volume on how to shoot boudoir photography, but well worth getting and there's good information in here along with some very nice work. I'd recommend this one, but wish it was a hardback book, just don't care much for paperbacks! For the money, it's plenty good enough.

Moreover, some of the information relates to Android products and the reader is told to download iPhone apps from Google! What a waste of money! Does Amazon have no quality controls?

Not so for the wireless Ethernet networks (built around the IEEE 802.11x standards)--these hold much more mystery for even experienced network designers. 802.11 Wireless Networks: The Definitive Guide aims to codify the body of knowledge needed to design and maintain wireless local area networks (LANs). The authors succeed admirably in this, covering what installation and administration teams need to know and digging into information of use to driver writers and others working at lower levels.

The only significant detail that's been excluded has to do with security--a notorious weak point of 802.11x LANs. The authors cover the feeble but widely used Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) authentication protocol in detail and devote another whole chapter to 802.1x, which is an emerging authentication scheme based on Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP). The author has considerable skill in communicating information graphically and does a great job of using graphs to show how communications frequencies shift over time and how conversations among access points and network nodes progress over time. This edition is out of date, I see an updated version will be released early 2017 and I plan to buy it when it comes out. I'm studying for the CWNA exam and this text complimented very helpfully the official study guide. What the CWNA didn't make clear, this text fille din those blanks and even exceeded the course content by providing the minutia of the 802.11 process.
