Not one but THREE Alpha males - I've died and gone to Heaven!

Lexie's been on the run - and even she doesn't know who she's running from. She's spent most of her life on the streets and she's quick, intelligent, and wary. The last time she saw her best friend was years ago - that is until her boss Jacob introduces her to his cousin Sierra - who just happens to have been Lexie's best friend. The reuinion is not all hugs and kisses though - especially when Paul, Sierra's brother in law, realizes Lexie is not only his mate - but also his 2 brothers' mate. They are triplets! When darkness draws near and Lexie is in danger will her three mates be able to keep her safe WERE SHE BELONGS?
The story here is outstanding - the pacing is great, the characters are full, rich, and sexy. They are alpha's so quite dominant but in a protective way - and it never comes across as heavy handed - well at least only when Lexie enjoyed it *wink*. Lexie is fascinating - given her background you can believe her actions - she's a fighter! And she's not about to just bow down to 3 guys - even if they do make her squirm uncomfortably - at least not at first. I liked all 3 but I canna lie - Saber definitely lit my fire - a wounded man on the inside he, just like Lexie, gradually realizes that to get he has to give and share.
The erotic scenes are hot but not as descriptive as some I've read. They fit nicely in the context of the story and don't take center stage over it. I was enthralled by 3 such great alpha men - and the way they each handled Lexie a bit differently. A great paranormal romance guaranteed to heat you up on a cold winter's night (and if you have A/C and a fan you can enjoy this all year long!)

I give this story a solid 2 1/2 stars due, mostly, to content rather than execution. The writing, I felt, was good though not extraordinary. I really liked the storyline and felt that it had a lot of room to spawn sequels. Unfortunately I also felt that it WAS a sequel. I had to find the author's website to be sure I wasn't starting in the middle of a series. At times I felt lost in the story as if I were missing information that would have been provided by previous books. This book could have easily been twice as long to allow the author to fully explain certain relationships (Lexie and her best friend Sierra, Lexi and her boss Jacob) as well as pack dynamics (there are HOW many alphas to one pack? Just how subordinate are the women in the pack?). The confusion caused by this really took away from the story.
I must admit that a lot of the time I felt that the author was trying to shove every cool thing she's ever read in a paranormal romance into this book. Tragic past for the heroine? Check. Every wolf is an alpha? Check. Fey warrior? Check. Tragic heroine suddenly discovers she's a magical fey/wolf princess? Check. A lot of them felt like very convenient plot devices.
My last complaint actually has to do with the characters themselves. Specifically Lexi and Saber. To be blunt, they both got on my nerves. I found myself irritated with how weepy Lexi turned out to be. Perhaps I'm picky, but I would expect a woman who has literally grown up on the streets, put herself through college, and became head of security at a popular club to be a bit tougher. I was also amazed at how quickly she accepted her place in fey society. No recriminations at all about being left to fend for herself while still a child. Personally, I'd be a bit angry about that. There was talk of Lexi being an independent woman, but I never saw it.
Saber went to the other end of the spectrum. I enjoy a good alpha male, but I found Saber to be a bully. And not in the good way. He wants his way just to get his way. The story (and Saber's character) would have benefitted from more insight into his thought process.
Overall, it was an okay story, but nothing beyond that. I DO, however, believe that this author has growth potential. As I said, the storyline was good and the writing nice. I'll watch for future books, but won't rush to get them.

Just awful!

Holy Crap, this book was awful. It's like the editor gave the author a thesaurus and said "Here, go forth and synonymize this book to death!" Add that to sentences like "They were were." and grade school grammar and sentences. It also had what I like to call 'knowledge vomit' rather than have the heroine learn everything in a normal manner they had her go into a trance and 'when she woke up, she would know all.' Following the trance she started to speak awkwardly like 'Mates! come to me, I have much to share with you.' When before it was things like 'Guys, come here, I need to talk to you!'
God this was awful! I didn't finish it, and WILL be returning it.
